Vintage Picnic #1

These LA mornings have been fraught with June Gloom, but today I slipped into summertime with this picnic-inspired look. Double Indemnity is my favorite movie from the ’40s, and this outfit makes me want to hop in a convertible and drive the windy canyon roads with Fred Macmurry (were he still alive). In other news, this top (thrifted from the Thank You Mart in Westwood) was made in Mexico. The tags are written in Spanish. I believe it says "Estilido de Mexico" And I didn't even have to cross the border! Very fun! There's more at my blog, for those interested: STYLEFYLES.TUMBLR.COM

Vintage Picnic #2

I really wanted to skip on out to a fun, picnic-y location for today's photos, but unfortunately my photographer was pressed for time, so the upper level patio at my house will have to suffice. Today's look is a little bit '40s inspired, a little bit south of the border inspired. I wanted to mix this together for a unique, vintage picnic look. I kind of wanted to add a white rope belt to cinch the waist in, but decided I was one accessory short of an accessory overload. In the end, I really love how it worked out! Americana

Sorry for the decapitation in the head area. I really love these photos and wanted to submit them for this week's contest...unfortunately I've just moved and my dryer is leaking gas. So until the connection conundrum is solved, laundry is on temporary hiatus/super slow mode (aka tumble dry for three hours or air dry on the patio) .

Team America

What can be more American than a blue sear-sucker style jacket, a red belt that pops and a crisp white white pleated skirt? Take away those Chinese Laundry shoes, and I'm America, through and through. Happy Independence Day! stylefyles.tumblr.com
