As it was a whole 9 degrees today, I felt like taking the colour up a notch! The skirt was a random find in Montreal on my honeymoon, and the violet tights carry the pop of purple throughout the outfit, grounded into the stilettos- found for 10$ as Suzy Sheer last year.
Textures, layers, and certainly colours! One of the downfalls of menswear is that it tends to sway toward dark colours, neutrals, and a complete LACK of colour. While greys, blacks and browns are undoubtably a staple of a proper menswear ensemble, mixing in a few key pops of colour really pulls the look into something wearable and eye-catching.
Menswear is all about texture for me. Leather. Silk. Linen. Tweed. It's about layers and suiting and silhouettes. Fit is ultra important to maintain some shape, and not appear to be floating in oversized clothes. I made these grey slacks, and the purple-check cape last fall, but have never worn them together until now!

all i wanted to do this morning was sit in my pj's on the sunny deck... but alas, work calls. a comfortable graffitti-print t-shirt would be too casual on it's own, but with a sleek pencil skirt (self-made) and leather details (thrif finds) it becomes crisp and professional.
