I bought this skirt long ago when I lived in Ann Arbor, Michigan at a great place called the Getup. (All you Michigan vintage lovers, you much make a pilgrimage here! They have a very well edited and reasonably priced selection of items!) I wore it a lot my freshman year of college when I was into funky things, but as I started editing my wardrobe a bit, it fell to the wayside. I finally pulled it out from the bottom of my drawer the other day, inspired to pull together an outfit based on its crazy patterns without going overboard. A close up of the skirt lives here: http://flickr.com/photos/furny/3258734712/
When Keiko Lynn said that she had made a dress especially for weardrobe, I couldn't wait to see it. And, when I got it in the mail and tried it on...I immediately fell in love. I'm not usually a "dress person," but this was hands down the most comfortable dress that I have ever worn. AND, it cinches in all the right places. I'm sad to send it on the next girl to remix, but alas, at least I got to try it on...and I look forward to receiving it back in the mail in time.
One of my new year's resolutions is to stop saving all my vintage clothing for weekends and evenings. Sure I was horribly overdressed but I think it was worth it. I was given the shirt (worn backwards) from a lovely lady that works at my local Anglicare. This lady is literally a saint. The skirt is of unknown origin (I've had it forever) and I'm considering making another one because I love it so much. I added the tights to make things less boring.
I got this vintage dress in the mail yesterday and I can't stop wearing it already! It's cute, comfy and just the perfect denim dress. I got a little bit an 'Alice in Wonderland' feel from it. Maybe becase of the blue colour and the white collar on it. Just added my black patent t-straps with it and I was good to go. Except for the white tights. I don't really like them with this dress. I think the light colour of it, should pop
I'm a real sucker for knits - the bigger, and the cosier, the better. Every winter I look for a knew piece to add to my wardrobe, something that will pull the rest of my wardrobe together and into the winter season. Over the years, I've started looking for more unique pieces ... something you're not going to see on everyone else. Many would say you can only get such pieces vintage but you only have to have a good eye to pick up the quirkier things from the high street stores. I love this wrap because it so warm and comforting - even just to look at. I teamed it with white woolen tights and kept the rest of the palette neutral, carrying through the woolen texture throughout the outfit and all finished off with brogues. I think heels would have changed the outfit completely.
I picked up this super versatile Topshop Boutique dress a few years ago and it is still so relevant now (probably more so actually) and I wear it loads. Its a great figure hugging knit dress which works so well under baggy cardigans or a cool vintage blazer such as I have worn it here. I love to style it up with cute belts and jackets. I remember trying it on in the dressing room and thinking at the time "where will I wear this?", "Oh, its quite expensive for a plain black dress!"And now I'm so pleased I bought it because it is really easy to just throw on and create a great outfit round.
